Live
PeopleSoft → Brightspace (student enrolment)
Saviynt → Brightspace (staff directory)
Saviynt → Azure AD (IGA)
Azure AD → All systems (SSO / OAuth 2.0)
Planned
Qwickly ↔ Brightspace (LTI attendance)
Forms/Lists → Power Automate → Qwickly (excused absences)
Brightspace → Performance Plus (program reporting)
Constraint
PeopleSoft: 18-month dev queue
No new development appetite
Who drives demand — and what they actually need
IST & Apprenticeship Mandatory attendance tracking for compliance. Safety training completion before another labor board incident.
→ Qwickly, Manager Dashboard, Performance Plus
Occupational Health & Safety Staff safety training compliance reporting — visible to managers before incidents occur.
→ Manager Dashboard, Performance Plus
Student Advising (Michael Purcell) Attendance as early at-risk indicator. Intervention before students fail, not after.
→ Qwickly, Brightspace, Performance Plus
Institutional Research (Andrew Oxner) Program-level reporting across shells. Natural language queries against data. PeopleSoft + Brightspace joined.
→ Performance Plus, Power BI, Copilot add-on
Faculty (broadly) Content creation, AI assistance, course delivery tools. Currently under-served — pent-up demand.
→ Brightspace, Lumi, AI tools, Canva
IT Programs (Dean Tsaltas) Teaching students professional AI and coding tools. Agentic programming. Currently: personal accounts only.
→ GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, CCN

Structural observations
Best-of-breed trap NSCC has both a full Symplicity suite (Orbis, CSM, career advising) and a full Blackbaud suite (Award Management, Raiser's Edge) — but chose point solutions from each. StarRez is a third suite used for housing only. No consolidation strategy in place.
No CRM Symplicity CSM, Orbis, Blackbaud, SimplyCast, and StarRez all do fragments of what a unified CRM would do. No single view of the student relationship exists.
PeopleSoft constraint On-prem SIS. 18-month dev queue. Workday/Oracle Cloud migration deferred indefinitely. Any solution requiring PeopleSoft integration is deprioritized by design.
EdTech governance vacuum Post-reorg, no formal body owns EdTech strategy. Doug + Matt Taylor are de facto stewards with no structural authority. GenAI policy is the only formal policy — up for renewal now.
Performance Plus — the right bet Power BI cube (Andrew Oxner) is low-capacity and requires technical expertise. Performance Plus adds predictive learner analytics, program-level reporting, and at-risk identification — purpose-built for education, no custom dev needed.
Lumi Suite — underexplored NSCC already owns Creator Plus. Lumi adds AI tutoring, AI-assisted grading, auto-generated quiz banks, and study support — all integrated into Brightspace. Worth evaluating before procuring separate AI tools for faculty.
